Where is Ayia Napa?
Ayia Napa is a resort in Cyprus. It lies on the far eastern side of the southern coast of the Cypriot island. Cyprus itself is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and although it is close to being classed as the Middle East, it is a European country. The island is 3,500 square miles with a popular coastline of over 400 miles. The island used to be Greek Cypriot inhabited.
However in 1974, the Turkish invaded and despite many attempts at trying to remove the Turkish troops, they still occupy the northern third of Cyprus. A ‘green line’ has been created to section off the Greek Cypriots from the Turkish Cypriots. This is patrolled by Turkish troops and many watch towers and fences make the division all too obvious.

Ayia Napa is in the Greek Cypriot part of Cyprus. In the winter months, Ayia Napa is popular with winter sun seekers. 3 month holiday deals allow people to relax and take in the gorgeous beaches and Mediterranean cafes and restaurants. However in the summer, the resort comes alive with tourists and it appeals to the younger generation who flock over to take part in the music events and festivals held here.
Where is Ayia Napa nearest airport?
Cyprus has three airports. There is Ercan in the northern part of Turkish Cyprus. Southern Cyprus has airports in Larnaca and Paphos. Ayia Napa is approximately 45 miles from Larnaca and 169 miles from Paphos airport. There are many package deals that fly into both airports and transportation from either is easy and cheap to arrange.
Where is Ayia Napa beach?
The beach in Ayia Napa resort is beautiful. Sandy shorelines and beachfront cafes line the Nissi Beach and there is an abundance of water sports to try.
